# CBSE Class 10: which chapters to prioritise before boards

CBSE Class 10 board preparation in February should triage chapters by mark frequency and current mastery — not NCERT order alone. Science: prioritise Chemical Reactions, Carbon Compounds, Electricity, and Light (numericals + diagrams) before low-weight enrichment chapters if time is tight. Maths: Quadratic Equations, Arithmetic Progressions, Trigonometry applications, and Statistics/Probability typically carry heavier application weight than introductory geometry proofs. Students should list five lowest-scoring topics from pre-boards or unit tests, map each to a chapter cluster, and run 20-mark timed drills on Tier-1 weak chapters only for two weeks before expanding. "Covering syllabus" without fixing Tier-1 gaps is the main cause of 60–70% ceilings.

## Key facts

- CBSE Class 10 Science case-based and diagram questions cluster in Physics (Electricity, Light) and Chemistry (Carbon compounds).
- Maths board papers favour application problems in Quadratics, AP, and Trigonometry over rote proof reproduction.
- Students who "save hard chapters for last" often never return — February triage prevents this.
- Chapter priority should follow pre-board mistake patterns, not parental anxiety or tuition schedule order.
- Attempting any five of six questions in Science rewards selective strength — depth on five beats shallow coverage of sixteen.
